Please describe your career so far
I studied computer science at the TU-Dortmund with a minor in music. I completed my doctorate in the field of software engineering. I then worked as a technical project manager at a software manufacturer for eBanking software, then as a project and portfolio manager at an international bank.
What tasks/projects are you responsible for?
Further development of the overarching IT architecture at ALTANA. Overarching refers to the divisions, locations and regions and technologies (cloud, enterprise applications such as SAP, Salesforce, or issues relating to the Microsoft digital workplace, infrastructure).
How is your work environment?
I mediate and advise “between” the many different areas, both within IT and between specialized departments and IT. This often involves long-term and far-reaching decisions, so the task is very exciting and diverse.
What is special about working at ALTANA?
The mixture of a global group and the diversity of the many organizations. This is what makes a global corporation personal and individual. As the company is doing very well economically and because the culture is exemplified, there is room for taking on responsibility and personal development.
What does the future of the IT department look like?
Cloud and AI are of course the big buzzwords, but there is a long way to go. The challenge lies in the right pace of development and a good risk assessment.
To achieve this, we need in particular well-qualified individuals who are not only proficient in IT (this is a basic requirement), but who can also organize. Orchestrating external service providers, internal IT teams, internal customers from the specialist departments, self-service users, etc. is a challenge that requires a great deal of communication and empathy in addition to mastering the technical complexity.
The IT department of the future is thus not the “machine room” in which work is carried out, but the “control center” from which IT services for ALTANA are developed, provided and organized.
