Plant Electrician

Responsibilities

In this position, you will be responsible for:

  • Inspect, repair, install, modify, and maintain plant electrical infrastructure, electronic systems, circuits and equipment

Essential Functions are:

  • Maintain a clean, orderly and safe work environment.
  • Connect wiring and electrical circuits using safe practices and PPE.  Circuits range from low volt DC to 480V, 3 phase. Ensure compatibility of the components
  • Perform effective troubleshooting to identify malfunction and repair as necessary.
  • Utilize system drawings and diagrams to troubleshoot electrical systems, equipment and components.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair motor control circuits
  • Select, install and connect solid state devices such as relays, switches, photoeyes, etc.
  • Prepare and assemble conduit and pull wiring to destination.
  • Prevent breakdown of electrical systems through routine inspection and repair.
  • Provide input and generate plans for plant shutdown and startup.
  • Test and repair instrumentation systems utilized by production equipment to ensure adherence to established performance levels and product quality.
  • Provide input and execute plans for the installation of new equipment, process controls and plant lighting upgrades.
  • Maintain proper labeling of plant switchgear and circuit breakers.
  • Document and record modifications and new installs
  • Utilize and maintain plant PLC addressing, date manipulation, counters, timers and logic functions

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent.
  • Post high school technical or trade school education preferred.
  • Electrician’s License preferred
  • Five (5) years field installation / maintenance of industrial electrical systems
  • Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (Article 500 experience preferred)
  • Familiar with NFPA 70E
  • Working knowledge of AC and DC power and controls
  • Ability to read and work from prints, circuit diagrams and schematics
  • Working knowledge of methods and procedures used in performing testing and evaluations on all electrical apparatus’ using VOM’s, amp meters, meggers, etc.
  • Previous experience with PLC’s and microprocessors preferred
  • Mechanical troubleshooting aptitude and ability
  • Ability to work off-hours and overtime as needed with short / no notice
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with little supervision
  • Excellent communication skills & problems solving ability
