Site Services and Facilities Officer

Circa £39,000.00 per annum (depending on experience)

Responsibilities

As a key part of the site team of BYK UK, the role reports to the BYK UK Engineering Manager.   

Working integrally with other Engineering and Site team members, the role is responsible for engineering resource planning and management of minor projects to support the site infrastructure and facilities.  

Additionally, the role will act as point of contact for Site Contractors, improving and developing services, relationships and efficiencies within our contractor support team.

Ensuring that high standards are maintained and that facilities are safe and fit for purpose at all times is a pre-requisite of this role.

Key Accountabilities  

  • Manage all engineering work orders within the site Infrastructure and facilities area. Provide an efficient repair service to the site as required
  • Management and sourcing of suppliers, contractors, site resources and sub-contracted services
  • Daily control of outsourced support contracts including access control, cleaning, security, building repairs, security, and grounds maintenance
  • Oversight and co-ordination of all on-site external suppliers, contractors and sub-contracted services
  • To ensure that all work undertaken complies with Environmental, Health & Safety requirements and legislation and uphold divisional policies and procedures
  • Responsible for the control of ‘Permits to work’, where applicable, and for ensuring that risk assessments and method statements are provided by Contractors / Suppliers before any works commence on site
  • Provide interface between BYK and term contractor services for Widnes site
  • Maintain the Engineering Resource schedules, working closely with BYK Engineers
  • Support overall operating excellence by driving cost, efficiency and service level improvement plans
  • Organise reactive maintenance where necessary, coordinating and managing external tradespeople and contractors
  • To ensure all requests and projects within field of responsibility are budgeted and costed according to the overall budget plan. All non-conformance to the work plan highlighted on a timely basis and mitigation proposed
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits to identify potential issues, and implement effective solutions to prevent downtime and costly repairs
  • Maintenance of Site Vehicles including arrangements with external contractors for required routine inspections, repairs and servicing
  • Navigating and providing information on usage from the FLT vendor portal system

Requirements

Required / Essential Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

  • Experience with Facilities Management or similar in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience of maintaining and improving civil infrastructure including but not limited to buildings(external/internal), roadways, walkways, roofs and drain networks
  • Strong interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and ambition to be part of a successful team.
  • Drive, determination and resilience and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of project management techniques and safe working practices
  • Ability to plan and organise multiple projects with a structured approach
  • Ability to prioritise, manage own time and work to high quality standards
  • Experience of working in a team environment developing trust and respect
  • Strong problem-solving skills to avoid problems or resolves with solutions that best fit the company
  • Excellence in the use of MS office products
  • A flexible approach to work in line with business requirements
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and oral)

  • Cost control and knowledge of accounting principles
  • Experience of using SAP
