
Technical Sales Manager – Liquid Coatings
Responsibilities
To drive profitable growth in the Liquid Coatings market (Automotive & Industrial sub segments) by establishing a strong technical presence with ECKART America’s customers, influencers and prospects within the Liquid Coatings markets; in collaboration with ECKART key account and MTS colleagues.
In this position, your main job functions will include
- Drive and support profitable growth through market research, technically oriented sales calls, training, customer contact and the identification of sales opportunities within the Automotive and/or Industrial Coatings markets and assigned territory.
- Responsible for market knowledge and understanding of the Automotive and/or Industrial Coatings market segments; to include development of StEP with support of MTS/TCM colleagues.
- Monitor the competitive landscape and maintain database of Market Intelligence into CRM. Understanding of import statistics as component of competitive analysis.
- Prepare periodic reports and regularly update CRM showing sales volume, potential sales and status of active pursuits (Opportunities).
- Communicate market needs back into the internal organization and spearhead the pursuit for a technical solution to customer problems.
- Provide input, support and execute the EA Liquid Coatings Market Development plan as a part of Global & Regional Market Segment strategies leading to high-level business relationships in Automotive (OEM & Trim) & Industrial Coatings market sub-segments (i.e. Aerosol, Powder, Anti-Corrosion, Consumer Electronics, Coil, Packaging, GI).
- Represent the Company at industry trade shows, exhibitions, and industry meetings. Support the conduct of marketing surveys.
- Responsible for supporting the success of new product launches including - assist with the coordination and timing, identifying key partners, development of support tools, conducting training, external product testing and driving demand.
- Perform customer presentations and demonstrations of products, highlighting value-added benefits.
- Work closely with Technical Marketing, Laboratory and Customer Service Departments to resolve customer issues and provide solutions to customers’ needs.
- Effectively communicate within the organization, including use of CRM tool.
- Operate within budgeted expenses.
- Other duties as assigned and agreed upon.

Requirements
- Minimum five (5) years’ field technical experience in the Automotive or Industrial Coatings industry.
- Have a verified portfolio of existing contacts within the Automotive or Industrial Coatings industry including major coatings companies (i.e. S-W, PPG, RPM, Akzo, Axalta).
- Undergraduate science or engineering degree or appropriate tenure and experience in specialty chemicals industry.
- Customer focus with ability to establish and maintain strong personal relationships.
- Proven ability to drive sales and generate profits through strong technical orientation and innovative approaches. (optional for applications specialist background)
- Personal Presence – the ability to demonstrate business acuity while exhibiting confidence in one’s competence.
- Demonstrated business acumen and analytical skills to grow into competence in functions to include:

- Regular travel to customer locations, EA facilities & regional trade events (60+% of time).
